I obtained my post-graduate teaching qualification in 1980 after studying for my degree in Spanish and European studies at Warwick University. My first full-time post was at the EOI Drassanes in Barcelona.
I have worked in private and state education, specialising in English, EFL, and ESL. I have also worked outside the world of education in voluntary sector administration and management and obtained sector-specific management qualifications through the Open University.
In 2007 I leftmy post as head of Year 6 in a middle school in Poole. I took a sabbatical year and returned to the classroom as a student to learn Catalan at the EOI in Girona.
After a short period working as a translator and writer for the magazine Catalonia Today, as well as setting up their English Culture Club in partnership with the Abacus Cooperative, I returned to the UK.
I decided to set up Oil Your English in July 2012 to bring together my love of the English language, teaching and new technology. I am lucky enough to have some very talented collaborators who share a love of English.
I live with my family in Poole in the beautiful county of Dorset. I am also a regular visitor to Catalonia, Spain. I am enthusiastic about technology having been involved in computing use and design since the 1980s. I happily embrace the chance it gives me to work with people all over the world.
